Work Permit
International students who
have studied a degree course for at least two semesters
or at a Chinese language program for one year could
work in Taiwan under one of the following
circumstances:
1.
Occurrence of financial difficulties and the students
can provide evidence of such condition.
2.
International students are required to provide assistance
to any academic research unit of the university.
3.
Students are required to participate in an off-campus
internship program related to his or her field of
research under the permission of the university.
Required Document
1.
Application
Form
2.
Copy of student ID card (on application
form)
3.
An official transcript of the recent
term from the university or the language courses
4.
Proof of school authorization
5.
Original copy of receipt of payment (Applicants may transfer the
application fee in post office or pay in the counter
of Bureau of Employment and Vocational Training.

6.
Copy of passport and A.R.C.
7.
Other related proofing documents (any one of
following document is acceptable):
(1) Specific
documented proof that financial resources are inadequate
to continue studying or living in Taiwan.
(2) Documentation
from the school's research departments regarding the
foreign student's assistance in related work.
(3) Documents that prove the applicants
are required to do intern in relation to his or her
studies.
Application procedure
1.
Bring the application and all documents to Bureau of Employment and
Vocational Training, or
2.
Mail the application as a registered post with receiver’s name as
職業訓練局綜合規劃組 (申請聘僱外國專業人士Application of Foreign Professions)
3.
It usually takes 5 working days for a work permit to be issued.
Other Regulations
1.
The valid period permitted is 6 months at most.
2.
Besides winter and summer vacation periods, work time is limited
to 16 hours per week.
3.
For those applicants who fail to follow the regulations, the Bureau
of Employment and Vocational Training can revoke the
permit.
4.
Based on Employment Services Act, foreigners working without permit
will be fined from NT$30,000 to NT$150,000.
5.
Students should return the working valid permit
to the Overseas Students Section if they suspend or
drop out from school.
6.
For the application made in the first semester, the
work permit is valid until March 30 in the second semester. Application made in the second
semester is valid until September 30 in the same year.
